Wireless Subscribers Saturation

Wireless phones companies are seeing a decline in subscribers growth in the U.S

METRO PCS has now introduced The “MetroFlash” program that allows former customers of other carriers to bring their CDMA enabled phones over and have it activated trough Metro pcs prepaid plans. This new service is being implemented while most wireless companies in the US have seen a net decrease in customers. The current financial crisis is helping Metro Pcs which is the preferred choice for people who chose to cut their land lines and need unlimited minutes for a low fixed price (Usually trough a MVNO)

The CDMA technology is already touted by Chinese telecoms companies in Africa. It appears that the implementation is cheaper to the end user than the more popular GSM standard. With people still complaining about the relative high cost of airtime in Sub Saharan Africa, new competition from additional carriers would be a welcome opportunity to attract a new wave of subscribers.
